Up close and personal in a POWRi Lucas Oil midget on Macon Speedway’s high banks

MACON, Ill. – Macon Speedway has been around for generations. When the historic fifth-mile banked oval was built in 1946, Wayne Webb did it with midgets in mind. The sweeping banked corners and layout were perfect for midgets.

Decades later, POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the Outlaw Micros have fallen in love with Macon Speedway. So have the fans. The POWRi show returns to Macon Speedway for the DynaGraphics POWRi doubleheader Saturday, when POWRi runs double features — racing the feature lineups set during the April 26 program in addition to a full night of racing.

So you want to get an idea of what it’s like running a midget at Macon Speedway. Here’s the view from the back of Michael Pickens’ car during a heat race last summer, just check out this YouTube link.
