FIREMAN’S BALL

Crazy Kid’s Club finally got their first night in and it was a blast. The Aaron’s “Lucky Dog” and the Macon fire truck were on display and interactive with the kids. Thanks to Kid’s Castle, SavMor Pharmacy, and Highside Graphix for their sponsorship.

The feature event of the night were the “Topless Sportsman” who raced 40 laps. It was a battle to see who would come out in front when the checkered flag waved. Dave Crawley, Jr., was able to accomplish that goal. Finishing out the top 5 places are 2nd Jeremy Nichols, 3rd Mike Pickering, 4th Wes Odell and 5th Curt Rhodes

Races for tonight June 29 2013 have been postponed

AT MACON SPEEDWAY SATURDAY POSTPONED TIL JULY 20


(Macon, IL) Races at Macon Speedway for Saturday, June 29 have been postponed for this evening due to rain and lightning. The rescheduled date is July 20.

        Join us next weekend for the Skeff Distributing Fireman’s Ball and Topless  Sportsman. Macon Speedway,  with the help of Skeff Distributing in Decatur, would like to pay tribute to the hard working firemen next Saturday night.  All firemen with I.D. will be admitted for half  price on Saturday night for the night’s festivities to honor them.
        Taylorville businesses will also be in attendance for Taylorville Night.
Divisions racing next weekend are Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds, UMP Sportsman, UMP Street Stocks, UMPP 4-cyl. Outlaw Hornets and Hornets.

        Also don’t miss the Herald & Review 100 UMP Summer Nationals and The Summit UMP Modified Series on Thursday, July 11.  There will be a 100-lap feature for the Late Models with $5,000 to win, and the UMP Modifieds will also take to the track that evening for a $1,000 purse and a very exciting night for dirt track fans.  NASCAR star and Macon Speedway co-owner Kenny Wallace will be racing that night in the Modified division.

        Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. for June 29.
Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, IN will have their NASCAR NIGHT with Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader next Tuesday, July 2. Also racing that night will be UMP Modifieds and MSCS/KISS Sprints.

Historic event races into Macon Speedway.

(Macon,Illinois) For over 65 years Macon Speedway has hosted many major events, with many different types, sizes, and shapes of race cars. But never before has Macon Speedway hosted a Burris Thunder Tour with over 400 Go Kart entries. Not only will this event be historic for Macon Speedway, but for the Burris Thunder Tour as well as it will be the richest purse in the tours history. And it will be the first time it has a kids extravaganza included in the weekends events.burrisflyer

 
 The Burris Thunder Tour travels all over Illinois and Indiana drawing Go Karts from 28 of the 50 States and as far away as Canada. On June 21st, and 22nd the Tour makes its stop in Macon, Illinois at the rich in history Macon Speedway. The grounds of the Speedway will be packed as over 450 entries are expected to take part in this event stated Kyle Urbasek, the tour Promoter stated. For the first time the Burris Thunder Tour will break the $40,000.00 purse and prizes for a single event. Go Karts are not a stranger to the Speedway as they had events here before. “But nothing as big as this” said one local driver. The teams, drivers, or Speedway will be in store for a first but so will the kids. This event will also host a Kids Extravaganza which will be a first in the Tours history. The Kids Extravaganza will be threw the entire weekend. There will be pit tours, games, sports, candy drops, and a ton of give aways. The Kids Extravaganza is completely free after the purchase of a general admission ticket. Urbasek Insurance Service Inc. and SavMor Pharmacy are proud sponsors of the Kids Extravaganza as they have donated all the prizes. The prizes range from bikes, event shirts, $100 and $50 Visa Gift Cards, and the Grand Prize of a remote control car valued over $250. 
 
Friday gates open at 1pm and Qualifying around 7:15pm. Saturday gates open at 8am and features starting around 5:30pm. General Admission for both days is only $5 and kids 5 and under are free. Macon Speedway Mueller Distributing Lite Beer 50’s cancelled for Saturday, June 15

We’ve had a few weeks of great racing and perfect temperatures and no rain –  until today. Racing at Macon Speedway has been cancelled tonight due to rainfall, making the track too wet to race.Next week will be the Burris Summer Shootout Go Kart racing at Macon Speedway on Friday and Saturday, June 21 & 22.

Regular racing will return on Saturday, June 29 with the 95Q Firecracker 40’s! UMP Late Models and UMP Modifieds will run 40 laps each that night, followed by FIREWORKS! Also racing that night will be UMP Street Stocks, UMP Sportsman, UMP 4-cyl. Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets.

Tickets are still on sale for the USAC Silver Crown Series and ARCA Car Series at the Illinois State Fair on Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18 and USAC Silver Crown Series and ARCA Car Series at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Sunday, September 1 and Monday, September 2. Call 217-764-3200 for tickets!

MILLER LITE BEER TWIN 50’S AT MACON SPEEDWAY

THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, JUNE 15!

(Macon, IL)  Macon Speedway and George A. Mueller Distributing present the Miller Lite Beer Twin 50’s this Saturday, June 15. The night’s program will consist of two 50-lap features – one for The Midwest Big Ten UMP Late Model Series and the other 50-lap feature will be the Billingsley Towing Modifieds. This will be the third showing of the Big Ten Series at Macon Speedway.

 In the Midwest Big Ten Series, each of the ten races will include larger winnings to the winner of the feature.  At the end of the season the points each driver has accumulated in 8 out of 10 races will be totaled and there will be $5,000 distributed throughout the top ten Late Models with the top point fund winner taking home another $1,200!  As of now, Steve Lance, Jr. is first in points. With a race on Thursday, June 13 at Macon Speedway, the point leader may change as the point spread between the top five is only eight points.

Divisions included in the rest of Saturday’s racing program are UMP Sportsman, UMP Street Stock, UMP Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets.

SnS Auto Sales in Decatur will be putting up a whopping $300 bonus for any 2013 first time Macon Speedway visitor that wins the feature event in either the UMP Big Ten Late Models, UMP Modifieds, UMP Sportsman or UMP Street Stock divisions.

POWRi still going strong on third day of competition at Macon Speedway

(Macon, IL) .The First Annual POWRi Speed Week started on Thursday at Jacksonville, headed to Lincoln on Friday, and tonight performed to a packed house at Macon Speedway with a record 163 cars in all six divisions. At press time, the POWRi Micros were running their feature.

The Street Stock division had quite a few restarts before they had one lap down. Once they got in rhythm, Greg Osman took the lead on lap 14 after going head-to-head with Jeremy Nichols after a restart on lap 12. Rounding out third was Terry Reed.

The Stock Hornet feature had the most excitment on lap one with a pileup in turn four, ending up with Marty Sullivan on his roof. After the restart, Thad Gee took the rest of the 8-lap feature easily, even lapping a car on lap four. John Bright, Jr. took second and Mike McChristy came in third.

One side note on the POWRi Series, there were a lot of down-under fanswho traveled to be in attendance to cheer on their fellow Aussies and Kiwis!

First Annual POWRi Speed Week and Blessings come to Macon Speedway this Saturday, June 8

 

(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway is excited to bring open-wheeled action back to the track this weekend, June 8, as part of the First Annual POWRi Speed Week with the 2013 POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets and POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micros! The four-day event starts off at Jacksonville Speedway on Thursday, June 6th; then travels to Lincoln Speedway on Friday, June 7th; then to Macon Speedway on Saturday, June 8th; and finishes up at Vermillion County Speedway on Sunday, June 9th. Gates open at 5, racing starts at 7 pm each night.

Jeremy Camp of Blue Mound, Ill., leads Dereck King of Vienna, IL in the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, and Max Pozsgai of Lincoln, IL is third. 20-year old Andrew Felker from Carl Junction, MO is the POWRi National Midget points leaderover Zach Daum. Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, Oklahoma is third.

Macon Speedway will open their pits at 3:00 pm with driver registration from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. National Midget drivers’ meeting is at 5:15 pm with the 600cc Outlaw Micro drivers meeting at 5:30 pm. Hot laps are at 6:00 pm with racing at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission tickets are $18 and kids 11 & under are still free.

Racers and fans can also look forward to a few blessings from area pastors Saturday when Macon Speedway hosts the Faster Pastor Night of Racing. They will take to the 1/5 mile oval track in 4-cyl. Hornet cars racing for the title of “Faster Pastor”. Special admission pricing is available for congregations and youth groups coming out to Macon Speedway to support their pastor.

Also racing Saturday night will be the Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, UMP Outlaw 4-cyl. Hornets and Stock Hornets.

Mark your calendars for NEXT THURSDAY, June 13 when RICHARD PETTY, TONY STEWART, KENNY WALLACE AND KEN SCHRADER will be at Macon Speedway for NASCAR Night II. The co-owners of Macon Speedway will be competing against Macon’s best for a thrilling night of racing! Autograph session will start approximately around 5 pm. Admission is $20. First come, first served for the first 300 people.
