4 Straight top 10's!

Consistency is what wins championships, but for those not running for a championship, it also builds confidence. Confidence and consistency are two words that Max Pozsgai will take with him when the Pozsgai Motorsports team visits Peoria Speedway this Saturday night.

Saturday August 20th saw the 7x do battle with Powri at Max’s hometown track, Lincoln Speedway. A heat race win transferred to a 6th place finish in the main after starting 3rd. “We simply missed the setup in the feature a little bit,” stated Max, “something we don’t normally do when we get to race in Lincoln. You have to have a perfect setup when you want to run up front with Powri.”

The following Saturday, Max took off the wings for the first time in his micro career at the Spring Creek Speedway in Macomb, IL, and again finished 6th after an exciting heat race win. “We had a better car than 6th, but the slick track made for a lot of cautions and we couldn’t really get the top side working on the short runs. Overall, it was a good showing for my first time without the wing.”

After a couple weeks off, the 7x team ventured to Jacksonville Speedway for another run in with the Powri gang. A third place finish in the heat had Max starting 10th in the main and that was where he would finish on the very rough racetrack.

Last Saturday Max and the rest of the Powri 600 micros visited the Mighty Macon Speedway for the final time in 2011, garnering another top 10 run of 9th after starting 16th. “Nate (crew chief Nate Charron) and I set the car up for the top in the feature, but it took too long for the bottom groove to wear out. The last five laps we were one of the fastest cars on the track, and I would have loved to have a 30 lap race instead of 20!”

During the two week hiatus, between Spring Creek and Jacksonville, Max lost his long-time motor builder Greg Charron in an unexpected tragedy. “Nate and Greg Charron have always been two of the main reasons for my successes, and we are definitely going to miss Greg not only from a racing standpoint, but also as a friend and family, really,” said Max. “Greg would have wanted us to keep racing, and that’s what Nate and I plan to keep doing with me in the micro and Nate in the sprint car.” The Pozsgai Motorsports team sends their condolences to the Charron family.
