Ladies Night To Feature Cheap Tickets At Macon Speedway

(Macon, IL) Weddle Performance Engines Ladies Night is this coming Saturday, June 26 at Macon Speedway, featuring seven divisions of racing and a special $5 grandstand admission price for ladies.

After one week off, the BillingsleyRewards.com DIRTcar Modifieds will be back in action this coming Saturday night. Springfield, IL driver, Guy Taylor, has taken over the point lead in the class after claiming the feature win on June 12th, his second of the season. Tommy Sheppard is second in the standings with four feature wins, while Alan Crowder, Kyle Helmick, and Billy Knebel are top five in points.

Williamsville, IL’s Colby Sheppard leads the points in the Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Model division, claiming seven top five finishes in seven starts. Sheppard took the point lead this past Saturday night from Jose Parga, who had won the first five features of the season. Donny Koehler, Ryan Miller, and Braden Johnson complete the top five in this year’s standings.

The DIRTcar Pro Mod class has been one of the best this season, providing competitive racing with great field parity. In seven nights, the class has awarded seven different winners. The top five in points are Kyle Helmick, of Smithton, IL, Nick Justice, Jake Montgomery, Kevin Crowder, and Billy Knebel. Each of the five have claimed one win. Helmick and Justice are tied for the point lead, while Montgomery is only two points behind them. Ryan Hamilton and B.J. Deal have also won features competing on a part time basis.

The Weddle Performance Engines Sportsman division has already completed six races during the 2021 season. Springfield, IL driver, Jim Farley, III, leads the points by just six over former champion Scott Landers. Farley is still looking for his first feature win, while Landers has one. Rick Roedel, Roy Magee, and Brandon Dick round out the top five in points.

Modified point leader, Guy Taylor, also leads up the Archers Alley Street Stock division points. Taylor has yet to put the x7 in victory lane but has finished in the top ten in all of his feature starts. Jaret Duff is just four points back, while Zach Taylor has been showing great improvement in his second year and is third. Bobby Beiler and Jeremy Nichols round out the top five.

Allan Harris is the current point leader in the DIRTcar Hornet class, claiming three feature wins this season. Billy Mason is second with two feature wins, while Shelby Beiler, Justin Coffey, and Zac Miller round out the top five.

The Micros By Bailey Chassis have only been running for points for a couple of seasons at the track but each year the battle has been extremely tight. Last year, Jacob Tipton, of Decatur, IL, actually was tied at the end of the year for the championship but the tie-breaker put him second. Tipton leads this year’s standings by just four over Hayden Harvey. Daryn Stark, John Barnard, and Kyle Barker complete the top five.

Pit gates open Saturday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps begin at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00 PM. Grandstand admission is $15 but just $5 for the ladies night special. Kids 11 and under are free.

Decatur Building Trades POWRi Night In The Books

Macon, IL. (06/19/2021) The Mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, IL. hosted the fourth night of Illinois SPEEDweek and Lucas Oil POWRi’s 41st event at the historic track. Michael “Buddy” Kofoid perfected the tough track and ended his night in victory lane, capturing the win from the eighth starting position. Three other divisions were also in action on Decatur Building Trades Night.

At the drop of the green flag, Kaylee Bryson, Thomas Meseraull, and Cannon McIntosh battled three wide for the lead. All cars fighting for track position on the tricky Macon surface. Daison Pursley caught a rut in 1&2 and got upside down. The field got back under green with Meseraull leading, but about six laps in McIntosh battled Meseraull for the lead and took it over.

McIntosh settled in with the lead while Kofoid was on the prowl. Kofoid made his way up to the second position with only nine laps in the books. After a few late restarts, the battle for the lead intensified, Kofoid and McIntosh traded slide jobs for the lead. Kofoid prevailed and took the lead after a restart to finish off the fourth night of Illinois POWRi SPEEDweek.

Cannon McIntosh followed Kofoid to the line to finish second, Kaylee Bryson finished third, Gavan Boschele finished fourth and Bryant Wiedeman finished in the fifth position. The Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget League will be back in action for the final night of the Illinois SPEEDweek at Brownstown, IL. tomorrow, 6/20.

Kyle Barker of Cooksville, IL. earned his first Lucas Oil POWRi 600cc Micro Sprint League Presented by Engler Machine & Tool career win. His first career win came to him at none other than the historic Mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, IL.

Timmy Dick, of Monticello, IL won his first Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Model feature after avoiding the craziness of what was a rough race. Donny Koehler, Blake Damery, Brandon Sweitzer, and Colby Sheppard completed the top five.

Argenta, IL driver, Nick Macklin took the victory in the 15-lap Archers Alley Street Stock feature. For Macklin, it was his second Macon Speedway feature victory. Jeff Reed, Jr., Guy Taylor, Zach Taylor, and Jeremy Nichols.

Up next for Macon Speedway is Weddle Performance Engines night featuring all seven regular classes this Saturday, June 26. The track will also observe Lady’s night, offering $5 grandstand admission for all ladies in attendance.

(Macon, IL) The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets are in the state of Illinois, this week, competing at five different racetracks to determine a Speedweek Champion. On Saturday, the tour heads to Macon Speedway, in Macon, IL for an event presented by Decatur Building Trades. The 1/5-mile stop is one of the favorites for many on the POWRi schedule.

The 9th Annual Illinois Speedweek began on Wednesday night in Charleston, IL before heading to stops in Lincoln, IL on Thursday, Jacksonville, IL on Friday, Macon, IL on Saturday, and Brownstown, IL on Sunday. In addition to the headline division, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League the POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Micros will be competing each of the five nights.

The lead extended after the Charleston event, which Axsom found victory lane. Neuman, from New Berlin, IL, was the 2020 POWRi champion and is looking for back-to-back titles. Each driver has claimed one win this season. Each of the top five drivers in points represent a different state as Bryant Wiedeman from Colby, KS, Brenham Crouch from Lubbock, TX, and Brent Crews of Denver, NC round out the top five.

The POWRi Engler Machine & Tool Micros are led by Locust Grove, OK’s Daison Pursley. Pursley has claimed one win this season but has also claimed top fives in each of his other starts, giving him a 120 point advantage. Millersville, MO veteran driver, Joe B. Miller is second in the standings, claiming two feature wins in five starts. Frank Alusha, Bradley Fezard, and Tyler Kuykendall complete the top five.

The Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Models and Archers Alley Street Stocks will also be on track for Saturday night’s event.

Nichols Scores Street Stocks Special at Macon Speedway

By BZ

(Macon, IL) Jeremy Nichols led wire-to-wire to take a special 30-lap Archer’s Alley Street Stocks feature win on Saturday. Jayne Exvacating & Welding in Oblong sponsored the race and added some bonus money to the purse prize to bump up the first place prize to $750. Nichols was chased the entire race by Bobby Beiler on the top side of the slick speedway. Nichols started the night setting fast time in the qualifying time trials with a 12.640 lap. Nichols owns the track record of 12.393 which he established in 2018. He received a $75 bonus for the top qualifier spot, as well. Beiler was fast enough to win the heat race ahead of Nichols but it was Nichols at the end of the night with the big check in hand as well as the trophy. The race was a fast-moving event with only three caution flags and was completed in just 14 minutes.

Guy Taylor raced a few races at Macon Speedway Saturday night. He competed 6 races during the night in the Pro Modifieds, the Archer’s Alley Street Stocks as well as the BillingsleyRewards.com Modifieds and Taylor tasted victory in the BillingsleyRewards.com Modifieds class with a 20-lap victory. Getting the front row outside starting assignment, Taylor coasted to the lead and easily hit his marks on the top side of the track to pull away from Billy Knebel, Curt Rhodes and Robert Lee. Taylor was pleased with his starting position because he knew it needed to be on the high side to run the race with the way the car was set up for him.

Braden Johnson of Taylorville took his first Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Models feature as he battled to hold off Dakota Ewing, Colby Sheppard and Jose Parga. Parga, who has won all of the Pro Late Model features so far in 2021 at Macon, got aggressive from his third place racing position and tried to slide in front of Ewing to try to contend for the lead but the move didn’t work out his way and he banged into racing teammate Ewing which spun Ewing out on the front stretch outside of the fourth turn. As the caution flag came out, Parga became upset with his impatient decision and was visibly angry banging his hands on the steering wheel. The decision cost him his third place position and was forced to move to the back of the group. Ewing would be allowed to return to second place and battle for the lead but Johnson was too quick and too much for the drivers on this night and would take the victory.

Dennis Vandermeersch took advantage of a miscue during the Weddle Performance Engines Sportsman heat race to take the checkered flag and that allowed him the pole position for the feature. After battling his new car, Vandermeersch started to get comfortable in it with the help of the 15-lap feature. He would move quickly around the track and hoist his first checkered flag of the 2021 season.

Nick Justice won his first Pro Modified feature win Saturday night. Taking advantage of an opening by Kevin Crowder, Justice moved fast atop the track and ran a solid race. Justice, a former Street Stock champion, knew the jump to the division would be difficult knowing of all the competition would make for challenges night in and night out. At least on this night, Justice was up for the challenge.

17-year-old Warrensburg driver Hayden Harvey won the Micro Sprint feature presented by Bailey Chassis. For the youngster with blue dye in his hair, it would be his first Micro Sprint feature win of his career. And it wasn’t an easy 15-lapper. Trailing Jeff Beasley and Devin Feger out of the open, Harvey would work his magic for the pass on the bottom to get the lead. Despite him leading, many eyes were on Jeremy Camp, a usual lock for feature wins when he comes to Macon Speedway. Camp was set to win his heat race before losing power and slowing on the heat’s final lap. That would have him starting 15th in the 18-car field and he roared to the front and challenged Harvey for the lead but ran out of time and laps as Harvey was scored first crossing the finish line.

The night was completed with Billy Mason winning in the Hornets. Mason ran a tough feature with Brandon Miller before Miller’s right rear tire left the car and forced a yellow flag. On the restart, Allan Harris, the previous week’s feature winner–who starts 10th the next week by way of the Macon Speedway Hornet rules–flew up to the second place position. As the laps were closing, Harris made his move to the top and Mason went up to block and pushed Harris towards the back stretch concrete wall. Mason would regroup and win the final feature of the night.

Seven racing divisions, over 100 entires, and a 7-kid Power Wheels Demo Derby during intermission entertained the crowd on a warm night. Rain clouds threatened much of the area but hardly a drop fell in Macon on Saturday. The racing season continues at Macon Speedway on Father’s Day weekend with the return of the POWRi Midgets & Micro Sprints. Also, the Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Models and the Archer’s Alley Street Stocks will make up the show. Gates open at 5pm, racing at 7pm.

Street Stock Special Event Plus Power Wheel Demo Derby To Headline Macon Speedway Saturday

(Macon, IL) An action-packed Saturday night, June 12, is ahead for those attending Macon Speedway, in Macon, IL. In addition to a special 30-lap Jayne Excavating & Welding feature for the Street Stocks, six other divisions will be on track plus this year’s edition of the Kids Power Wheel Demo Derby.

Leading the field of Midwest Big Ten Street Stocks into town will be perennial favorite in the class, Jeremy Nichols. The Lovington, IL driver won the only Big Ten race held so far this year at Lincoln Speedway in April. Nick Macklin, Terry Reed, Guy Taylor, and George Ewing round out the top five in Big Ten points and will be fighting for the $750 top prize.

It will also be a points event for the Archers Alley Macon Speedway Street Stock class. Maroa, IL driver, Jaret Duff, currently leads the standings by eight over three-time feature winner, Bobby Beiler. Guy Taylor, Zach Taylor, and Darrell Dick finish off the top five in the weekly class, a division that boasts some of the best veteran drivers around.

New Berlin, IL driver Jose Parga has been unstoppable at the track in the Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Model division. Parga will be looking for his sixth win in six tries this coming Saturday night. Colby Sheppard continues to show great improvement and is second, while Donny Koehler, Ryan Miller, and Dakota Ewing complete the top five. Six place points man, Braden Johnson, showed promise last Saturday, holding Parga off half of the feature.

In the BillingsleyRewards.com Modified division, Tommy Sheppard, of New Berlin, IL, has won four of six features, including three in-a-row. Sheppard leads the points by 46 over Springfield, IL driving veteran, Guy Taylor who has claimed one feature win. Alan Crowder is having a solid season, sitting third, while Kyle Helmick and Billy Knebel are pulling double duty in their Pro Mods and holding top five positions.

The DIRTcar Pro Modified division has been a highlight of the season so far at the high banked 1/5-mile. This Saturday, the division may very well see its seventh feature winner in seven races, as no driver has been a repeat winner so far this year. Smithton, IL’s Kyle Helmick leads the points by just four over Jake Montgomery and two more over Nick Justice. Kevin Crowder and Guy Taylor complete the top five in the division. Feature winners include Helmick, Montgomery, Crowder, Knebel, Ryan Hamilton, and B.J. Deal.

Jim Farley, III leads the Weddle Performance Engines Sportsman division into this Saturday night’s action with a meager two-point advantage. Former champion, Scott Landers is second, while Rick Roedel, Brandon Dick, and Roy Magee complete the top five. Landers, Jeremy Nichols, and Tommy Duncan have claimed feature wins this year.

The DIRTcar Hornets car count has grown in leaps and bounds over the last couple of weeks after a sluggish start to the season. Allan Harris, of Chatham, IL, leads the points by 20 over Shelby Beiler, after claiming three feature wins. Bill Mason has won a feature and sits third in points, while Justin Coffey and Zac Miller finish off the top five.

Decatur, IL driver, Jacob Tipton came up just short for the Micros By Bailey Chassis championship last year. Coming into this Saturday’s event, Tipton leads the points, while last year’s champion John Barnard is second. Daryn Stark, Hayden Harvey, and Kyle Barker round out the top five in points.

Children ages 3-10 will also have a fun event at intermission, as the Power Wheel Demo Derby will be held. Two different age groups will take their Power Wheels into the infield to race for the winning trophy. Families must bring the power wheels to the track to participate. Full details, including the rules and entry form are available on the Macon Speedway Facebook page.

Pit gates open Saturday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps are at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00. Grandstand admission is $15, while kids 11 and under are free.

Rippin Ricky Take Non-Wing Sprint Win At Macon Speedway

(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway, located in Macon, IL, hosted a Non-Wing Sprint Car race for the first time since 2009. The show was a good one, thanks in part to sponsorship from Judy Smith and Tony Robertson in addition to a competitive field of drivers.

Former Ventura, CA native, Ricky Lewis, decided to make the last-minute trip from Indiana to compete for the first time at 1/5-mile facility. The decision turned out to be a good one, as he started outside of the first row and lead each and every lap of the 25-lap feature event. Lewis was pressured for a while by open wheel veteran, Zach Daum, before Daum was involved in a spin. When the checkered fell, it was Rippin Ricky, followed by Logan Faucon, Brock Hunnell, Nate McMillin, and Shane O’Banion.

New Berlin, IL driver, Jose Parga, continued his unbeaten streak at the track in the Decatur Building Trades Pro Late Model division. Parga had to work hard for it though, as Taylorville, IL driver Braden Johnson was up on the wheel and out front for the first half of the race. Parga was followed at the end by Johnson, Colby Sheppard, Colby Eller, and Storm Beiler.

Speaking of domination, the BillingsleyRewards.com Modified class has been owned by Tommy Sheppard, Jr. in 2021. This Saturday night was no different as Sheppard won his fourth race in six tries despite a talented Modified field. Guy Taylor came home a close second, followed by Billy Knebel, Jeremy Nichols, and Kyle Helmick.

After a Pro Modified championship at the track one year ago, Pocahontas, IL’s Billy Knebel has now found victory lane this season. Knebel was able to fend off challenges from Kyle Helmick, Jake Montgomery, Nick Justice, and Nathan Lynch.

Bobby Beiler, of Blue Mound, IL, led all but one lap in the Archers Alley Street Stock feature. Fortunately for Beiler, it was the first lap that he didn’t lead but led the final 14 laps. For Beiler, it was his third win of the season at the track. Jaret Duff finished a strong second, while Zach Taylor had a great run in third. Darrell Dick and Guy Taylor rounded out the top five.

Rounding out Saturday’s action was the DIRTcar Hornet class. Point leader, Allan Harris continued his strong season, winning his third feature of the year. Billy mason, Shelby Beiler, Nick Clubb, and Bill Basso completed the top five.

Macon Speedway will next be in action on Saturday, June 12 when the Archers Alley Big Ten Street Stocks headline the event with the Jayne Excavating & Welding 30 lap feature. The event will pay $750 to win. Six other classes will also be in action. A Kids Power Wheel Demo Derby will also be held.
