Powri Speedweek Recap

Consistency was the key to the first ever Powri Speedweek presented by Speedway Motors and Lucas Oil.

The first night saw the 7x PMP Chassis travel to Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville,IL. After finishing 2nd in the heat, Max would start 11th in the feature event. After gaining a few spots, Max would finish in 8th for his 3rd top 10 of the year. "We had a faster car than 8th, but the track was rough in some areas which made it tought to pass," said Max. Hyper Chassis house driver and owner Mike Dicely from Lewisberry, PA took the win on night #1 of the speedweek.

Night number two saw the 7x at a very familiar track, the team's hometown raceway, Lincoln Speedway on Friday evening. After another second place heat finish, Max would roll off 7th in the main event. Attempting to pass for 5th in the early going before being chopped off and almost spinning out, Max fell back to 11th but bounced back for another 8th place finish. "They reworked the track right before the feature which made for a fast one lane track. They didn't have the tractor tires out (marking where the inside of the track is) so everyone was basically cornering through the infield. It was a pretty crazy race I was glad to get out unscathed." Pace Chassis house driver Nathan Benson from Concordia, MO took the win Friday in Lincoln.

The third leg of the Powri Speedweek saw the teams head to the Mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, IL. Starting 8th in the heat, Max could only muster a 5th putting him in the B Main where he transfered to the main event by finishing 2nd. Starting 19th on a 'rubber down' racetrack, Max still managed to hustle the 7x to 12th by the finish. "We always have a great car at Macon, but unfortunately missed the set up in the heat which set the tone for the night," said Max. "In the Powri Series, getting through your heat well is everything and we just didn't do everything right tonight." It was 15 year old Cale Thomas from Fairland, IN taking the win at Macon and the overall Powri Speedweek title.

The final leg of the Speedweek at Danville Speedway succommed to rain.

After the speedweek, the 7x PMP powered Suzuki was sitting in 4th place in Powri points. Max and the team have decided to take some time off to regroup and ready themselves for the Mike Phillips 66 $10,000 to win race in Belleville, IL on July 19-20. In the meantime, the team will be running a couple of sprint car races.

Max would like to thank his sponsors for their continued support Graue INC, Collision Concepts INC, Amsoil, Bland Bros. Enterprises, Greg's Machine Shop Engines, PMP Chassis, Hoosier Tire, JHD Designs, Competition Suspension
