Lite Beer Twin 50’s run 50 lappers for Big Ten late models, modifieds on IHOP Night Saturday

MACON, Ill. – Buckle up for twice the fun when Mueller Distributing presents the Miller Lite Beer Twin 50’s on Saturday, July 14 at legendary Macon Speedway on IHOP Night. A pair of 50-lap features highlights the program with Midwest Big Ten Series late models and Billingsley Towing modifieds as the double-barrel main attraction. With the races longer than the regular race weekends at Macon Speedway, race fans always circle their calendars for the Lite Beer Twin 50’s. The $2,000-to-win late model prize always attracts big name drivers, and the modifieds pay $700 to win.

Big Ten late models run at Macon Speedway for the third time this season in the 10-race campaign spread over four tracks that culminates with drivers going for the $5,000 prize fund. The Big Ten Series late model champ nets $2,000. Steve Sheppard, Jr., of New Berlin is the defending series champ, and he also won the late model 50-lapper here last season. All of the Big Ten Series contenders are expected to compete. Also, former Macon Speedway track champion Kyle Logue is expected to race the No. 91 Rob Babb late model here this weekend. Guy Taylor of Springfield leads the Billingsley Towing modifieds points after winning the track title last season at Macon Speedway. Jeremy Nichols of Shelbyville is the defending Twin 50’s champ in modifieds.

Miller Lite, the beer that launched the light beer category, invites consumers to reach for a piece of brewing history. Miller Lite has released the limited-edition Original Lite Can, an updated version of the iconic packaging that changed the beer industry almost 40 years ago. The Original Lite Can feature the familiar images of hops, barley and the words “a fine pilsner beer,’’ which reinforce the high quality ingredients and the unique brewing process that consumers have enjoyed for generations.

As part of a month-long promotion, IHOP will distribute coupons for redemption at 1280 E. Pershing Road in Decatur during each night of racing at Macon Speedway in June. With the purchase of one entrée and two drinks, the second entrée is free, so IHOP gets the racing into gear in an action-packed month. IHOP will also distribute the coupons during each night of racing at the famed fifth-mile high banked speedway during the month of June. When visiting the IHOP on East Pershing Road, ask your server for a $2 off coupon to Macon Speedway. It’s good for general admission during June.

Also racing Saturday are street stocks, outlaw hornets, stock hornets and B-mods. Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

In other upcoming shows, Heinkel’s Three Dog Night takes over Macon Speedway on June 21. Look for food specials, and you might be lucky enough to participate in a hot dog eating contest . On the same night, the gals from Woody’s will race in hornets during the second Bud Light Ladies Night of the season. On June 28, the 95Q Firecracker 40’s unofficially begins the Fourth of July holiday. Following the racing, a fireworks show will thrill the crowd.
