Beach House Mini-Sprints get another tuneup before POWRi makes return for double features

MACON, Ill. – The swarm of Beach House Mini-Sprints that calls legendary Macon Speedway home gets a chance to dial in the setup Saturday before an incredible doubleheader of racing on Aug.15-16 at the fifth-mile high banked oval plus a night at Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway.

Beach House Mini-Sprints are part of the program during Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Night and Bud Light Ladies Night presented by Y103 Saturday. The Mini-Sprints are a competitive division filled with talented drivers and incredible machinery, and they will energize the crowd before next weekend’s open-wheel extravaganza.

On Aug. 15-16, POWRi and USAC drivers coverage on Central Illinois to bring even more cars and stars that are expected to leave the Macon Speedway pits at overflow capacity. That will also bring more competition as the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and the 600cc Outlaw Micros arrive for races at Lincoln Speedway Aug. 15 and Macon Speedway on Aug. 16. On both evenings, the gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7.

The program at Macon Speedway includes double features for the POWRi midgets and Micros, so the Beach House Mini-Sprints will want to get everything ready for some serious competition.

There’s more to the weekend than short track racing. On Aug. 16, the USAC Silver Crown cars thunder down the straights and slide through the corners during the Tony Bettenhausen 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds mile track. Practice starts at 9 a.m. with qualifying at 10:25 and racing at 2 p.m.

On Aug. 17, the Central Illinois SuperChevyStores.com 100 for ARCA Racing Series stock cars takes center stage after the Sportsman Nationals feature race. The ARCA feature is set for 1:35 p.m.

During Taylorville Night and Bud Light Ladies Night at Macon Speedway Saturday, all ladies are admitted for half price – only $6 – and the gals from Woody’s will compete in a five-lap celebrity race with the top two finishers qualifying for the Bud Light Night Championship race on Sept. 13. Be on the lookout for Bud Light merchandise. CEFCU Kid’s Club will also take a ride on the Macon Speedway high banks in a school bus and get a look at the famous track from the other side of the fence.
