Dean Garland Memorial Race - Double-to-Win; Double-to-Start features - September 14!

MACON SPEEDWAY TO PRESENT THE DEAN GARLAND MEMORIAL RACE
WITH DOUBLE-TO-WIN AND DOUBLE-TO-START FEATURES SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2013

(Macon, IL)  Macon Speedway will prepare for the Dean Garland Memorial Race this Saturday, September

14th, featuring Double-to-Win and Double-to-Start features. Drivers participating must purchase a Dean Garland sticker to be eligible for the bonus. The stickers will be available raceday at the track. All monies raised will go to Dean’s grandchildren. Dean Garland was a beloved figure to drivers, pit crew members and officials at many central Illinois race tracks and passed away in the early part of the 2013 season. For anyone of you that has raced or owned a car or worked on a car in Central Illinois know Dean Garland. Dean has sold fuel and parts at just about every race track in the Midwest at one time or another, and has helped many people personally and professionally in years past.

Racing this Saturday night will be the Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds, UMP Sportsman, UMP Street Stocks, UMP 4-cyl. Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets. The Macon Speedway point’s races are heating up as we enter the final few weeks of racing in 2013 at Macon Speedway. In the Billingsley UMP Modified race, Guy Taylor is slowly pulling away from second place Danny Smith.  The UMP Sportsman division David Crawley, Jr. is extending his lead week by week over Nick Macklin.  The Street Stock driver Gene Reed may have the top spot clinched.  The UMP Outlaw Hornet division is being lead by Adam Webb who just came off winning the Hornet World Championship last weekend.  The Stock Hornets are the tightest division with only 30 points separating Mike McChristy from Mt. Zion, IL and Thad Gee from Bloomington, IL. Anything can happen in one weekend, so don’t miss out on the excitement!

Macon Speedway will also be hosting The Decatur Forsyth Classic and Come Together Let’s Walk groups this weekend at the 1/5 mile race track.

Gates will open at 5pm with racing beginning at 7pm. Adult general admission tickets are $12 and kids 11 & under are still free.

Macon Speedway upcoming events:

Macon Speedway and Decatur Memorial Hospital will host the POWRi Midgets and Micros, plus Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, UMP 4-cyl. Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets on Saturday, September 21.

The final race of the season will be on September 28th with regular racing featuring the Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds, UMP Street Stocks, UMP Sportsman, UMP Street Stocks, UMP 4-cyl. Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets.

Macon Speedway is located 9 miles south of Decatur, IL on US 51 then 1/2 mile west on Andrews Street, then South on Wiles.
