What's coming up at Macon Speedway

MACON, Ill. -- There's a lot happening over the next few days at Macon Speedway, so let's give you a quick run down.
-- On Saturday, April 26, Macon Speedway hosts the popular POWRi Series for midgets and outlaw micros. Rising star Christopher Bell leads the Lucas Oil National Midget Series points standings with 760 points. Tanner Thorson is second with 600, followed by defending series champ Zach Daum of Pocahantas, Ill., with 590.
Macon Speedway will also host UMP Billingsley Towing modifieds, UMP street stocks, UMP outlaw hornets and stock hornets.
-- On Thursday, May 1, the cars and stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series make their first-ever appearance at legendary Macon Speedway for the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100. Speedway personnel expect a large crowd that will arrive early, so gates will open at 4 p.m. Racing starts at 7.
The 100-lapper pays a whopping $12,000 to win and $1,000 to start the feature. The spectacle of watching the 800-horsepower super late models fly around the historic high-banked fifth-mile is something that's not to be missed.
NASCAR stars Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will race UMP modifieds that will also draw a talented field with $1,000 to win and $100 to start the feature.
-- On Saturday, May 3, Macon Speedway will unveil the first in a series of Bud Light Ladies Nights. The main attraction will be women racing while representing area bars. A champion will be crowned in September. There will be beer specials, giveaways and plenty of fun.
-- Stay tuned for more from Macon Speedway, where we've been racing since 1946.
