A Who's Who of drivers headed to Macon Speedway for St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100

MACON, Ill. – The momentum keeps rolling as the countdown continues for the St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part 100 and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series’ first appearance at the famed fifth-mile high-banked oval Thursday.

Former NASCAR star David Stremme confirmed he was competing in the 100-lap race that pays $12,000 to win in the biggest purse in the history of the historic speedway. The depth of the field and the list of championships is, truthfully, quite remarkable.

With stars like multi-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champ Jimmy Owens, reigning UMP national champ Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin and the sport’s biggest names expected to attend, it’s a Who’s Who of drivers converging on the legendary dirt bull ring. The number of former Herald & Review 100 winners and other championships is too long to list. In fact, it's hard to find a big name dirt-track star who won't be here in the Macon Speedway pits.

Then there’s the UMP Billingsley Towing Modifieds, a race featuring NASCAR stars and Macon Speedway co-owners Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader. It pays $1,000 to win.

Now wonder one race fan from New York wanted to get his blanket down Tuesday to save his seat 48 hours later. And another race fan from Michigan called about bringing his father for his first trip here to Macon Speedway. This is a field of dreams.

Tickets are sold the day of the race. Parking is free. Gates open at 4 p.m. Racing starts at 7 p.m. This is a must-see race.
