Macon Speedway Event Cancelled Due to Saturated Grounds and Unfavorable Conditions
Macon, IL. (5/1/26) — Officials at Macon Speedway have made the decision to cancel the Saturday, May 2, scheduled ‘Macon Rumble’ racing program, citing excessively saturated grounds that have prevented proper track and facility preparation.
Persistent rainfall early in the week, along with additional rainfall on Thursday night, has left both the track and pit area soft and waterlogged, with additional factors compounding the issue. Unseasonably cold temperatures and prolonged cloud cover have significantly limited any opportunity for drying, leaving conditions unsuitable for safe and competitive racing. With the potential for more precipitation Saturday morning, the outlook has not improved.
After building momentum with a strong opening night, the last thing officials want is to take a step backward. The grounds have not had an opportunity to recover, and with continued moisture in the racing surface and pit area, combined with a lack of sunshine, proceeding with the event would force conditions that do not meet the standard expected at Macon Speedway. The decision prioritizes protecting the racing surface and ensuring a better overall experience when competition resumes.
With cold temperatures forecasted to continue into Saturday evening, track officials determined that proceeding with the event would risk subpar racing conditions and compromise the overall experience for teams and fans alike. Officials remain committed to maintaining optimal racing conditions and appreciate the patience and understanding of competitors and fans during this stretch of challenging weather.
Macon Speedway will now shift focus to the POWRi/NOW600 RaceTech Titanium $uper $eries presented by Milestone Home Services on May 7–9, featuring Wing Outlaw, Non-Wing Outlaw, Restricted, and Jr. Sprint divisions in an action-packed weekend.
